NPNA Applauds More Inclusive COVID-relief package, Calls for Biden Administration and Congress to Prioritize Immigration Reform as Next Step in Revitalizing America

Ahead of the expected signing into law of President Joe Biden’s first major legislation today, American Rescue Plan, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), a leading national coalition of 41 immigrant and refugee rights organizations, congratulates Congress and the administration for getting much-needed relief to millions of individuals and families in dire financial straits. 

NPNA Applauds Immigrant Inclusion in American Rescue Plan

As Congress continues to consider legislation that would bring urgently needed relief to individuals and families throughout the country, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) calls on lawmakers to prioritize the full inclusion of immigrants as a key pillar of policymaking in the 117th Congress and in future COVID relief efforts. The American Rescue Plan, approved by the Senate on Mar. 6, takes steps to advance the social and economic integration of immigrants into the fabric of American society, but regrettably, continues to exclude many immigrant families from relief. 

NPNA and Welcoming America Applaud Reestablishment of the Task Force on New Americans, Call for Continued Federal Leadership on Immigrant Inclusion

President Joe Biden today fulfilled a key campaign promise by re-establishing the Task Force on New Americans, a cross-agency effort to coordinate and advance the proactive inclusion of immigrants into the fabric of American society. Renewal of the Task Force following four years of federal inaction on immigrant inclusion is another signal of an urgently needed new chapter in the federal government’s approach to immigration.
