WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) launched the Together We Are America campaign—a nationwide effort to encourage naturalized citizens and allies to stand together, show up this November, and vote for leaders who reflect our priorities and values. This campaign kicked off in Wisconsin with a press conference organized by NPNA, Voces de la Frontera, SEIU, and SEIU Wisconsin calling on Wisconsin voters to exercise their right to vote in the Tuesday, August 11 primary election. Through community organizing, voter profiles, and a limited-run podcast series, Together We Vote!, the campaign will amplify the real stories of immigrant families and their natural allies.

The national effort launches in the backdrop of an unprecedented wave of attacks on immigrant communities. Namely, a multi-billion-dollar enforcement operation targeting the undocumented and, more recently, attacks on lawful pathways and naturalization itself, with a looming 75 percent fee increase and threats of denaturalization for those who are already U.S. citizens. However, voters are taking notice of how these policies are affecting their family members and neighbors.

A majority of voters are dissatisfied with the current direction of the country. As of July 2026, only 35 percent of voters approve of our government’s current priorities, with 60 percent disapproving—the lowest ratings regarding inflation, foreign relations, jobs, and the economy. In recognition of our shared priorities and values, communities across the country have consistently galvanized their political power. U.S-born and immigrant neighbors now work together and look out for each other. With this natural solidarity, we expect to advance prosperity and safety for all at the polls.

Said Nicole Melaku, NPNA executive director, “This November, we call for systemic change and real solutions that invest in the dignity of all people. That means electing leaders committed to education, employment, immigrant integration, healthcare, housing, food security, and climate resilience. This campaign is a call to action for voters who are naturalized citizens, first-generation Americans with immigrant parents, and allies who are thinking of their immigrant neighbors when they head to the ballot box—we must turn out in force because we believe in the America we’re building. With high voter participation and growing solidarity across communities, we expect to advance prosperity for all at the polls.”

Said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces de la Frontera, “In Wisconsin, the most recent data of the 2024 election really underscores both the strength and unrealized potential of Latino voters. In the most recent election data, 132,767 Latino voters cast their ballot out of 156,335 registered voters, demonstrating an exceptionally high turnout rate of 84.9% among registered voters. This represents only 63% of the estimated eligible Latino citizen voting age population statewide. This data also shows a gap between eligibility, registration, and participation. At the time that we are in right now, the stakes have never been higher. We are in an unprecedented time of income inequality, unwanted wars in the Middle East, and billions of our national budget being used for the violent persecution of racial profiling, black, brown, and Asian people, and shifting away these critical resources from healthcare and public schools and childcare, things that people in Wisconsin actually need. Voces has been at the forefront fighting for our members and community members directly impacted by ICE enforcement. Right now, the next phase of the struggle is more important than ever- and that is to turn out to vote. We need to vote early and to make sure that we are showing up united and in strong numbers, punching above our weight.”

Said Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) California, “For nearly 40 years, CHIRLA has stood with immigrant families in California, and we know firsthand what it means when our communities are under attack. Right now, we are watching a multi-billion-dollar enforcement operation tear through the undocumented community, while this same administration works to close the door on lawful pathways to citizenship itself. A 75% fee increase for naturalization and the growing threat of denaturalization against people who are already citizens are not isolated policies — they are part of one strategy: to shrink who gets to fully belong in this country and who gets a say in its future.

“That strategy will fail, because our communities are not backing down. In California and across this country, naturalized citizens, first-generation Americans, and their neighbors are organizing, showing up for one another, and refusing to be intimidated into silence.
