WASHINGTON, D.C. — Though President Biden’s term is not yet over, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) commends President Biden for his unwavering dedication to a lifetime of public service. President Biden stepped forward during a critical juncture in our nation’s history, working tirelessly to restore faith in our democracy and implement common-sense solutions to stabilize our country amidst an unprecedented global pandemic, the consequences of climate change, and racial and economic strife, including:

  • Advancing Protections & Legal Pathways for Immigrants: Expanding opportunities for Dreamers and DACA recipients; extending humanitarian protection through Humanitarian Parole and Temporary Protected Status; removing barriers to citizenship for thousands of community members married to US Citizens.
  • Advancing racial equity within the federal government with Executive Order 14091 which ensures that communities most impacted by inequities have access to services, benefits, and federal grant opportunities for businesses owned by underserved communities.
  • Historic Appointment: Appointing Justice Ketanji Brown, an African American woman, to the Supreme Court.
  • Establishing the Task Force for New Americans: Facilitating federal coordination on immigrant issues with Executive Order 14012
  • Improving Naturalization: Nearly eliminating the naturalization backlog, streamlining processing, and improving naturalization service accessibility for millions.
  • Addressing Climate Change through the Inflation Reduction Act: Significant investments in combating climate change, transitioning to clean energy, and reducing healthcare costs for low-income communities.

Said Nicole Melaku, NPNA executive director, “We thank President Biden for his courage to lead the country through a time of great political tumult. His policies have displayed a commitment to advancing racial justice, keeping families together, and addressing the pressing issues of our time. From expanding opportunities for DACA recipients and immigrant spouses to supporting naturalization efforts and making historic strides in environmental justice, President Biden’s policies have set a foundation for a more inclusive and equitable future.

We extend our deepest gratitude to President Biden for his tireless service and courageous vision. We look forward to working with him through the remaining months of his administration for immigrant justice, knowing his legacy will continue as we work towards a brighter future for all who call this country home.”
