WASHINGTON, D.C. — Over the last week U.S. cities have come to a standstill amid workplace and community ICE raids. Following the Trump administration’s first 100 days, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) has partnered with the U. S. Immigration Policy Center (USIPC) at the University of Southern California, San Diego to conduct new polling on President Trump’s immigration performance during his first 100 days in office. Some key insights from the polling report reveal opposition to mass deportations and family separation.

Our findings demonstrate that moderate voters oppose the indiscriminate and lawless targeting of all undocumented people, especially those with longstanding ties to the United States, those with children, and those who have been unfairly targeted by the administration.

Key details from the poll:

The majority of those polled oppose deporting

  • Long-term residents (64%)
  • Parents of U.S.-born children (64%)
  • Spouses of U.S. citizens (76%)
  • Employed immigrants (59%)

The majority of those polled reject extreme enforcement tactics

  • 69% of those polled say the administration must obey court orders regarding removals
  • 53% oppose deportations without a court hearing
  • 51% oppose deporting international students for protesting
  • 52% oppose enforcement in sensitive locations (schools, hospitals, churches)
  • 61% believe deportation targets may include errors (“some/many mistakes”)

Said Nicole Melaku, NPNA executive director, “This polling reveals what we’ve long known: the American people reject the cruelty and chaos of Trump’s mass deportation agenda. Law and order are not a priority in this administration’s immigration policy—instead, we see indiscriminate racial profiling and executive overreach that goes beyond the rule of law. With this new round of polling, even the most moderate electorate is sending a clear message: ‘We didn’t sign up for this.’ From workplace raids in D.C. to community terror in Nashville, families are being torn apart by a reckless and costly enforcement regime. These tactics are beyond what the general public approves of, and the poll proves the public won’t stand for them.”

The poll surveyed a diverse group of registered voters, including extra interviews with two key groups: voters who switched from Biden in 2020 to Trump in 2024, including voters CA, GA, NV, and PA.
