A native Puerto Rican, Thaís Carrero, is the Director of Policy and Advocacy at the National Partnership for New Americans, a national organization that unites 60 of the most powerful state-level immigrant and refugee justice organizations across the nation to advance an immigrant equity and inclusion agenda at the state, local, and federal level through policy, advocacy and service programs that create vast opportunities for immigrant and refugee communities to achieve full civic, social and economic justice. 

Previously, Thaís served as Mid-Atlantic Director of Civic Engagement at NALEO Educational Fund, and as Pennsylvania State Director at CASA and CASA in Action, leading the immigrant equity and inclusion agenda and Latino voter mobilization in Pennsylvania along with thousands of community members across the state. At CASA, Thaís worked on an array of issues such as driver’s licenses for all, closure of detention centers in York and Berks counties, local trust ordinances, tuition equity, K-12 fair funding, climate, and justice for Puerto Rico, and she administered workforce, education, and naturalization service programs designed to improve the economic stability of individuals and families. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Justice Systems and a master’s degree in Public Policy Administration.
